A total of 12 truck tyres, valued at R100 000, have been recovered by police in the Free State.
Provincial police spokesperson Maselela Langa says two people, aged 40 and 45, were arrested on the N1, about ten kilometres from Kroonstad, by SAPS' highway patrol members on Saturday 11 February 2023, at about 04:00.
Langa says during their patrol, the police came across a Toyota Quantum with tinted windows and they stopped it. Police searched the vehicle and discovered 12 truck tyres. According to Langa, the police requested proof of purchase, which the two suspects failed to provide and they were arrested.
The two suspects will appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate’s court soon and they will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
