After 24 years of loyal and dedicated service, a Northern Cape police spokesperson is turning the page to a new chapter in his life.

Lt. Col. Sergio Kock bids farewell to the service after having been a familiar and trusted voice in law enforcement, helping to strengthen the image of the police while navigating the challenges and triumphs of policing. Kock is transitioning full-time into ministry at TD Church in Kimberley.

He is answering a calling that aligns his heart for people with his faith. Eager to bring hope, healing, and support to those in need, he plans to work closely with schools, rehabs, government entities, NGOs, and the wider church community.

Kock believes the lessons learned during his years in law enforcement will now enrich his ministry, allowing him to serve with empathy, wisdom, and compassion.

‘In this new chapter, I’m eager to bring hope and healing’

“As I embark on this new chapter, I'm eager to bring hope, healing, and support to those in need to experience the love of Jesus Christ and be disciplined to change their world,” said Kock.

“I’d also like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, especially my family, church, Brigadier Mashay Gamieldien, and our marvellous communications team.

“As I swap the camera and pen for my continuous walk with God in His Word, I truly look forward to staying connected to all of you as I begin this new journey. May God bless our community, and may his love guide us all.”

Northern Cape police commissioner Lt. Gen. Kolisa Otola wished him success on his new journey. “We deeply appreciate the dedication, positivity, professionalism, and meaningful contributions he has made in strengthening the image of the organisation.”

Meanwhile, Free State head of corporate communication Brig. Motantsi Makhele also bid farewell to the service after 36 years in uniform.

The provincial commissioner of the Free State, Lt. Gen. Baile Motswenyane, together with the police family, extended their gratitude to Makhele for his dedication and contribution over nearly four decades.

“His departure leaves a void, but his legacy of commitment, discipline, and compassion will remain.”
