The man is expected to appear soon in the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court after a targeted operation by the Fezile Dabi district economic infrastructure task team led to his arrest. .

The successful recovery operation was conducted on Thursday (19 /2). The task team acted on a tip-off regarding suspected stolen livestock in the area, launching an investigation that resulted in the recovery of two high-value Brahman cattle.

The operation began at approximately 08:00 on Thursday morning when team members received intelligence about the location of the stolen animals. This information led officers to a specific plot located in Kroonstad.

Upon searching the premises, police discovered a three-month-old Brahman calf. When questioned by the authorities, the owner of the plot was reportedly unable to provide proof of ownership or legal documentation for the animal and a satisfactory explanation as to how the calf came to be in his possession.

The calf, which has an estimated market value of R10,000, was seized by the police. The suspect was arrested on charges of having suspected stolen property.

As the investigation continued later that same day, officers extended their search to the Maokeng area. Near Relebohile School, the team discovered a white Brahman cow tied to a tree and left abandoned.

The cow, valued at approximately R18,000, was safely recovered. Police have since confirmed the cow is linked to the same stock theft case in Kroonstad. The total value of the livestock returned is R28,000.

Authorities continue to urge livestock owners to brand their animals and keep updated records to assist in the prevention and recovery of stolen stock.
