Bloemfontein - Dean Elgar stars with both the bat and ball as he steers the Chevrolet Knights to a six run win over the Warriors in Port Elizabeth.

On a pitch none conducive to batting the Knights were able to scrap a mere 114 runs for four out of the pitch in Port Elizabeth. Proteas Test batsman Dean Elgar managed to score 61 runs not out with Obus Pienaar supporting him with a contribution of 22.

Aya Gqamane was the Warriors best bowler with figures of 1 for 22. Wayne Parnell came in a close second with 1 for 22.
Needing less than six runs to the over to win the game the Warriors got off to a flying start. Ashwill Prince held the innings together to a large degree and it looked like it would be a walk in the park for the Warriors.

The breakthrough came when Davey Jacobs got caught off the bowling of Elgar with the score on 67. Elgar struck again with the score on 78 when he dismissed Samit Patel. Wayne Parnells’ wicket fell a few runs later.

The Warriors steadily worked their way to 94 runs before the Knights struck with 3 wickets in the space of 3 balls.

First to go was Kelly Smuts - Off the last ball of the over, Smuts hoisted Shadley van Schalkwyk over his head, Dean Elgar was waiting on the boundary and took a superb catch. Elgar struck with the following ball when Adrian McLaren played him square and got caught in the deep. The very next ball Elgar picked up the prized scalp of Ashwill Prince.

The Warriors put up a valiant fight and took it to the death. Good death bowling by Jandré Coetzee made the task impossible for the home side.

Just Ashwill Prince (37) and Davey Jacobs (30) put up any resistance against the Knights bowling attack.

Dean Elgar picked up the man of the match award for his superb all-round game.

The Knights are back into the second spot of the log and have two home games remaining ahead of the play-offs.
