These two events traditionally mark the beginning of the new season and in the Knights’ camp, there is a sense of excitement.

During the offseason the team secured the services of the Proteas David Miller, Marchandt de Lange, Robin Petersen, as well as the South Africa A batsman, Theunis de Bruyn.

De Bruyn has also been appointed as the team’s skipper for the new season, taking over from Werner Coetzee.

The CEO of Knights Cricket, Johan van Heerden, told OFM Sport that there is a buzz in the camp and their goal is to win silverware this season.

 "We start our whole campaign for the season with our VKB Golf Challenge," said Van Heerden.

"All the players will be part of that. David Miller will also be joining us after the golf for a bit of a function at the Bloemfontein Golf Club.

"So it's lekker to have all the guys here for the first time, they are back home now.

"We're looking forward to a great season and we're looking to get the ball rolling.

"I believe that this is going to be a spectacular team for the year to come and I believe we're going to put some silverware back in the trophy cabinet."

The annual awards dinner will be taking place tomorrow evening at Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein.
