The Proteas Women will be aiming for a series whitewash on Wednesday evening when they take on Ireland in the third and final T20 International in Benoni.

South Africa have been in imperious form, already securing an unassailable 2-0 lead after a commanding 105-run victory in Cape Town and a 65-run win in Paarl. For the Proteas, maintaining this momentum is key as they gear up for bigger challenges.

With the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England on the horizon, keeping their rhythm going, regardless of the opposition, is crucial for the team’s confidence and cohesion.

All-rounder and recent Cricket World Cup standout in India, Nadine de Klerk, stressed the importance of building on the momentum they’ve generated.

“I think what we spoke about before the series started was that we really want to start dominating world cricket,” said the fiery De Klerk.

“We haven’t always had the best results in bilateral series, but this was our first series win at home since 2021. To come out here after the World Cup and put up such dominant performances was exactly what we were aiming for.

“It’s fantastic to see different players stepping up and putting Ireland under pressure. Series one is done, but there’s still one massive game left, and we want to dominate that as well.”

Speaking about the return of former captain Dané van Niekerk and her immediate impact, De Klerk said making a comeback is never easy, but praised the manner in which she did it, while also setting an example for the newer players.

“It’s never easy coming back, no matter who you play. There’s always pressure, especially for someone like Dané returning to this space,” she said.

“But the way she’s batted has been exceptional – 23 off 8 the other day, and 40 off 19 balls really swung the momentum back in our favour. The same goes for Faye (Tunnicliffe), who’s been a top domestic performer for years.

“It’s great to see her get the opportunity and make the most of it. Bringing in new players can be nerve-wracking, but seeing them play with confidence and enjoy themselves is really exciting for South African cricket.”

Play at Willowmoore Park is set to get underway at 18:00.
