Houseplants are known to be great décor choices, but they also come with health benefits that assist overall health and well-being, depending on which plant you buy.

One can never have enough, as long as you remember to water them and nurture them, they will return the favour.

If you are a first-time plant parent, this article will guide you in choosing what plant to get, how to properly look after them and how it will benefit you.

Lavender, this beautiful purple plant assists with reducing stress, lowering heart rates, calming agitated babies, and improving sleep quality. The plant does require direct sunlight as well as soil that is easily drained.

Aloe Vera, the plant that doesn’t need much attention actually purifies the air around it, the plant removes formaldehyde and benzene from the air, which in turn creates a stress-free area.

English Ivy, the hanging plant that looks like it could be poisonous actually calms your allergies and asthma, and purifies the air which, in turn, can create a calming environment for peaceful sleep. This plant needs a lot of light, moderate water daily, and a good drainage system.

Snake Plant, improves energy levels, eye irritations, headaches and breathing issues, this luxurious-looking plant requires indirect sunlight, soil drainage, and to be watered at the same time daily.

Bamboo although there are various bamboo plants, each of them carries benefits such as increasing productivity and alleviating stress levels, the plant is also known to bring good luck and positive energy into your space.

Plants are also a good way to test if you are ready for a bigger commitment, such as a pet. If you aren’t able to look after a plant, you possibly won’t be able to look after a pet.
