Interpol has issued a red notice for Gupta brothers Atul and Rajesh.

The notorious brothers are wanted for prosecution in South Africa in connection with alleged fraud and money laundering charges.

Atul and Rajesh are implicated in procurement fraud linked to the R24.9 million paid between November 2011 and April 2012 by the Free State Department of Agriculture to Nulane Investments.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) applied for assistance from Interpol last year June, gunning for the pair's wives and four others.

But it's understood the red notice issued on Monday excludes the wives, Arthi and Chetali.

Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services spokesperson, Chrispin Phiri, confirmed the news of the red notices for the brothers.

"We note the confirmation, and this is a positive development.

"We hope to see justice take its course," Phiri added.
