10 Rainbow Chicken employees injured in petrol bomb attack─── 17:21 Wed, 08 May 2013
Ten Rainbow Chicken employees were seriously injured when their bus was petrol bombed in the Zinniaville industrial area, Rustenburg.
North West police spokesperson Philani Mvuna says a group of people, believed to be striking Rainbow staff, allegedly threw a petrol bomb at the bus, which was carrying 63 Rainbow workers to Kroondal last evening.
A case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property was opened.
No one has been arrested.
Last month, nearly 2 000 Rainbow workers affiliated to the Food and Allied Workers' Union embarked on a strike at the Rustenburg plant.
They want a monthly wage increase of R700 and changes to their working conditions.
