Jan Kempdorp - The bylaws governing initiation schools in some provinces are not properly enforced. This, according to the deputy minister of Police.
Maggie Sotyu yesterday visited the Pampierstad/Jan Kempdorp area, where 15 illegal initiation schools were closed down last week.
One hundred-and-fifteen children were hospitalised.
One boy who lost all his toes at one of these schools is recovering well and Northern Cape Social Development is providing counselling to the parents.
