Bloemfontein - The man convicted of burning down a conference centre at Bloemfontein's Emoya Estate says he has respect for the owner for not pursuing a civil case against him.
Jean Greyling (28) was found guilty of arson last month. He admitted to burning down the centre where his wedding reception was scheduled to take place, causing R3.5 million in damage.
The arson attack happened on his wedding day.
The owner of the estate, Buks Westraad, earlier told OFM News that he will not open a civil case against Greyling, because he won’t “kick a man while he is down”.
Greyling will be sentenced next Wednesday.
