Ficksburg - The Setsoto Municipality says its long-standing water shortages are a thing of the past.

The municipality, which includes Ficksburg, Clocolan, Marquard and Senekal, has experienced frequent water shortages for the past two years.

Municipal manager Tshepiso Ramakarane says they have installed a pipeline from the water treatment plant to a reservoir in Meqheleng township.

Ramakarane says they have also made plans to ensure that they have pipelines to draw water straight from the Caledon River into the Meulspruit Dam.

He says Senekal is the only remaining town in the municipality that still experiences water problems.

R24 million is needed to replace that pipeline.
