Bloemfontein - A convicted arsonist from Bloemfontein who burned down Emoya Estate's conference hall on the morning of his wedding is being released from the Grootvlei Prison today.
Jean Greyling (29) was handed a prison sentence in October last year after he caused damage of over R3,5 million to the conference hall.
He and his wife Lianné planned to get married at the venue on July 27, but their reservation was cancelled a few days prior after they failed to pay their account. The couple got married the same day at a local restaurant.
Spokesperson for the Free State department of correctional services, Puleng Mokhoane, says Greyling is being released under correctional supervision.
He served eight months of his four year sentence.
Meanwhile Lianné will appear in the Bloemfontein Regional Court again on July 17 for sentencing. She pleaded guilty on numerous counts of corruption and fraud.
She amongst others failed to deliver luxury imported vehicles to buyers who paid for it.
