Kuruman road construction could begin next week | News Article

Kuruman - Construction of the road outside Kuruman which lead to schools shutting down for more than three months could begin by the middle of next week.

This is according to spokesperson of the Joe Morolong Road Forum, Kagisho Gaborokwe.
Speaking to OFM News this afternoon, Gaborokwe said they have met with local government today and will have finality when they meet a contingent from the minister for transport, Dipuo Peters’ office next week.

He says they want to wrap up all meetings with various stakeholders, but was adamant that the protest over the road in question is not over yet.

In June this year, schools in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District were closed due to violent protests by the community. It was announced by the Northern Cape education department yesterday, that pupils from grade one to eleven, will have to repeat their grades next year. Matriculants will be assisted and will write supplementary exams in February.
