Serious legal issues need determination in Motsoeneng appeal: Majavu─── 11:22 Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Bloemfontein - SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng's lawyer says there are serious legal issues that need determination by a higher court with regards to Motsoeneng's appeal against a Western Cape High Court ruling that he be suspended and disciplinary steps be taken against him.
Zola Majavu was speaking outside the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein this morning, where the case is currently being heard.
The Democratic Alliance went to the High Court in August to enforce the remedial action proposed by Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.
Madonsela had instructed the SABC to suspend Motsoeneng after an investigation found that he had irregularly inflated his salary, among other findings. Despite the report, Communications Minister Faith Muthambi appointed Motsoeneng on a permanent basis.
Majavu says the case is not about his client's fitness to hold office.
