One killed, seven injured in Potchefstroom accident─── 10:28 Sat, 21 Nov 2015
Potchefstroom - A man was killed and seven others injured after a bakkie and light motor vehicle collided on the N12, 15km outside of Potchefstroom last night.
ER24 paramedics, along with fire services, arrived on scene to find a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a severe amount of damage. The light motor vehicle had been completely ripped open.
On assessment, paramedics found four bodies lying around the light motor vehicle. One of the patients, a male, showed no signs of life and had already succumbed to his injuries. He was declared dead on scene.
The three other patients were found in a critical condition. One of the patients showed diminishing signs of life and required CPR.
On further assessment, paramedics found four patients sitting inside the bakkie with moderate injuries. Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and provided the critically injured patients with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
