Bloemfontein – The Free State government will this year focus on creating jobs and economic growth, Free State Legislature Speaker, Mamiki Qabathe, said on Wednesday.
She was speaking ahead of the State of the Province address by Premier Ace Magashule on Tuesday next week to which 5 000 people had been invited.
Qabathe added that last year, Magashule did a door-to-door campaign to hear people's problems and plans to address their plight.
"The premier will be addressing the work and plans that the government has in store for this year, including job creation, health and education in the province," she said at a media briefing in Bloemfontein.
She hailed the province's dedication to improving education. Last year, the province sent several students to study abroad and this year they planned to send even more, Qabathe said.
The premier would also address the province's citizens on the upcoming local government elections.
"We want public participation. People should vote and we also want to teach people about our democracy."
