Sasolburg - A man was rushed to a local hospital by ER24 paramedics attending to another accident scene after he nearly drowned in the Vaal River near Sasolburg yesterday.
ER24 spokesperson, Chitra Bodasing Harduth, says paramedics attended to a collision on the R59 near D.F. Malan when men stopped at the accident scene asking for assistance. She says a man believed to be 28-years-old, who nearly drowned, was in the backseat of the car. He was conscious.
According to her, the men were apparently fishing next to the Vaal River when the incident occurred. The patient's friends pulled him out of the water and rushed to hospital. On the way they then came across paramedics attending to an accident scene. Paramedics assessed and treated the injured man before transporting him to hospital for further medical care. It is still unclear what exactly happened.
She says there were no injuries at the accident scene on the R59.
