Trompsburg hospital - official opening date to be announced soon─── CATHY DLODLO 12:43 Mon, 23 Jan 2017

Bloemfontein - The date for the official opening of the new multi million rand Albert Nzula hospital in Trompsburg that has been gathering dust for more than three years is to be announced soon.
Free State Health MEC, Butana Komphela, said in answer to a written question in the provincial legislature that the R380 million hospital, that has become a white elephant since construction was completed, is going to open this month to mark the birthday of Nzula. Finance MEC Elzabe Rockman also allocated another R10 million to the hospital in the provincial adjustment budget for its faulty sanitation system.
Spokesperson for Free State Health, Mondli Mvambi, says a date is expected to be set during the two-day sitting of the Premier’s Coordinating Forum, currently underway. The forum comprises MECs, HODs, Municipal Managers, CEOs of provincial entities and mayors. The meeting is taking place at Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein and is expected to end tomorrow.
Another item expected to be on the agenda is the electricity crisis. Eskom recently threatened to cut the power supply in several towns in the Free State due to municipalities’ outstanding debt.
