Mbalula issues warning to unlawful initiation schools─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 05:58 Sat, 10 Jun 2017

Bloemfontein - Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula, issued a stern warning to non complying initiation schools during his address at a Ministerial Imbizo in Botshabelo on Friday.
The minister conducted engagements with several stakeholders, including other police clusters and community leaders, in order to find ways to curb crime in the area.
With initiation season commencing this month, Mbalula said police would take a stronger stance on unlawful and illegal initiation schools.
He said if children are under age and still need their parent's consent to go to the mountain then they shouldn't be allowed to go. Mbalula said those that force young men and boys to take part in initiation school, could be charged for kidnapping. He said this could come with a prison sentence of 10 years.
He said the South African law allows for initiation school to take place in the country and therefore people who still take part in the practice, must do so in a respective manner towards their respective cultures.
