Weather service warns against making open fires─── NOMAQHAWE MTEBELE 12:20 Sat, 14 Oct 2017

Bloemfontein - The South African Weather Service warns against making open fires as they can lead to runaway veld fires.
The bureau warns that high chances of fire spreading are expected over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, western part of Free State, as well as western part of the North West, today.
According to meteorologist Tonie Rossouw, this is due to dry conditions and strong winds in the central region of the country.
“Do not make open fires because they can easily create runaway veld fires especially this time of the year before the good rains really start. We've had some good rain but there are still areas that are a little bit dry and that is a concern,” said Rossouw.
