Five people who were left injured this morning in an accident at Parys in the Free State are receiving medical care at a local hospital.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, tells OFM News two bakkies collided this morning on the R59 outside of Parys. Meiring says three of the five were in a critical condition while two other men were found with moderate injuries. He says the three critically injured people were trapped inside their vehicles and one was later airlifted by a helicopter to a nearby hospital. The cause of the accident is still investigated.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found three men had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. Two other men were found with moderate injuries. Fire Services had to use specialised equipment to free the men from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the patients for their injuries. The remaining patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals,” says Meiring.
