Midvaal Mayor Bongani Baloyi has been arrested for being involved in a physical fight with an ANC member
Midvaal Mayor, Bongani Baloyi, has been taken to hospital after an altercation with a member of the ANC.
According to the municipality's MMC for Corporate Services, Amelia Tsukudu, Baloyi had been trying to address the community of Savannah City, when the incident took place.
Both the mayor and the ANC member were arrested.
The DA said it was shocked that Baloyi was arrested and condemned the incident.
“We will not allow the ANC to disrupt service delivery to the people of Midvaal. The DA is committed to continue delivering quality services, and to be transparent and accountable to Midvaal residents,” the party said in a statement.
