NYDA responds to DA youth's intended protest action | News Article

The National Youth Development Agency's (NYDA) Bloemfontein branch said that the DA's Youth should have asked them for proof of what the agency is doing in the province, before embarking on a picket that suggests the agency is not doing anything.

OFM News earlier reported that the DA youth intend to embark on protest action in Bloemfontein this afternoon. They claim that the NYDA is not doing its job well enough, as the province has the highest number of unemployed youth.

The agency's Bloemfontein Branch Manager, Boitumelo Dithebe, told OFM News that the Chairperson of the DA Youth, Nomayeza Bagamela, had expressed the intention to picket to Dithebe but never engaged him on what they, as the agency, are doing for the youth in the province.

Following their meeting, Dithebe said he told Bagamela that if she could provide proof that the gathering is a legal one, he would delegate an official from his office to collect the memorandum of demands the youth structure has.

Dithebe, however, said Bagamela never got back to him with the proof of the picket being an approved one and as such, the agency would not be sending anyone to collect the memorandum from the DA. When OFM News called Bagamela for clarity on this, she stated that owing to obligations she had, she was unable to send proof of the gathering being a legal one as per the Gatherings Act 205 of 1993.

She said the picket would be going on and she would send the document to Dithebe before it starts for him to send someone to accept the memo.
