Welkom - The Gold Fields Mall in Welkom has been damaged after a crane fell over and hit the building. Project manager, Sedgeley's Mark Batchelor says the crane was loading concrete and was allegedly overloaded when it fell against the edge of the mall and damaged some of the shops that are under construction. Batchelor says the incident seems to be unrelated to the earth tremor that caused a rock fall at the nearby Bambanani Mine this morning, where two mine workers are still trapped. The opening of the mall is set for 28 October.
