Agri SA called on the government to accelerate funding and the rebuilding of critical infrastructure that was damaged by heavy rainfall.
The affected provinces are the Free State, North West, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, and Gauteng.
The editor of Farmer’s Weekly Janine Ryan said this follows the government's declaration of a national state of disaster in response to the floods.

In a statement, Agri SA urges the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, to put measures in place to ensure relief funding deployment is done transparently and accountable.
The organisation undertook to monitor the situation and provide updates to its members, in collaboration with the national disaster management centre.
Ryan adds that farmers are urged to complete impact assessments for their respective provincial disaster management centres to account for the damage that they have suffered.
Another news story takes a look at Police Minister Bheki Cele who recently described the rise in crime in South Africa as “disturbing” as he called on communities to help local law enforcement combat criminality.
Crime statistics for the third quarter of the 2022/23 financial year, which is from October until December 2022, shows that there were just under 7 600 murders which was up 10% from the previous quarter.

Ryan explains that of these, 86 murders and 92 attempted murders were reported in rural areas.
According to Cele, the latest crime statistics did not portray a positive picture.
