Bloemfontein - Reports that the so-called Allison-two, Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger, will be released on parole earlier have sparked a public outrage. However, Department of Correctional Services' Regional Commissioner, Delekile Klaas, emphasized during a media briefing yesterday that a 6-month remission of sentence will not make a difference prisoners who have received life-sentences or 25 years plus. Frans du Toit, who is currently serving his sentence at the Grootvlei Prison in Bloemfontein, was convicted to three consecutive life sentences. His partner in crime, Theuns Kruger, was also handed a life sentence. In 1994, the two were convicted of rape and attempted murder after stabbing Alison Botha more than 30 times, including 16 slashes to her throat. Despite having to hold in her intestines while crawling to a nearby highway, Botha miraculously survived after being rescued. According to Klaas 224 prisoners will be released from Grootvlei prison on Monday, and various factors will be taken into consideration before a prisoner will be released.
