Fast times are expected this weekend during the Music Marathon, presented by Chatz, Vodacom and OFM, the sound of your life.

This is according to the race organiser, Gordon van Wyk.

The Music Marathon has a marathon, half marathon and 10km race, as well as a 5km fun run.

Van Wyk told OFM Sport that the route is definitely one of the faster ones in Bloemfontein, and good times are expected.

“It’s one of the quicker 10km’s we’ve got in Bloemfontein.

“We’ going to start in Zola Budd and go past Grey College and Eunice Girls’ School into Paul Kruger.

“From there we’re going into De Bruin Street and all the way back, which is pretty much downhill all the way.

“So for the 10km we can expect very good times, away where from 30 minutes and upwards for the winners to come in.

“The half marathon (21.1km) is not that daunting, the only bit of hill that we’ve got we be when we go up Wynand Mouton. Once you turn into Montgomery to come back to the finish it’s basically downhill all the way, so we also expect nice times there.

“Even for the marathon (42.2km) which is the Two Oceans and Comrades qualifier, the only section with hills in Pellissier.

“Otherwise it’s nice and flat with open roads and safe for everybody.

The online entries close on Wednesday, while runners can still enter on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at the Bloemfontein Achilles Sport Centre.
