Music Marathon Winners cross the finish line | News Article

Central South Africa’s most colourful, music and fun-filled running is underway in Bloemfontein. Winners of the Music Marathon, presented by Chatz, Vodacom and OFM, the sound of your life, have already crossed the finish line.

The race features a 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km race and a 5km fun run. In the 42.2km race, Alfred Tembo from Bloemfontein Achilles came in first, followed by Charles Choni and David Molhiselwa.

As OFM predicted, Pauline Njeya claimed the honours in the women's marathon.

The top three spots in the women's 21.1 km half marathon went to Annah Moekesti from Nedbank, Marayna Swanepoel from Eskom and Darlene Cilliers from Maluti multisports came in third.

One of the most impressive performances of the day belongs to Jayme-Sue Vermaas, who guided the blind running sensation, Danie Breitenbach, across the finish line in approximately 1:30:00.

The 10km men's race was won by Anastacius Ontong, and his training partner, Tyler Beling, the teenager from Fichardt Park High School, won the women's race.

The first race started at 05:30, starting and finishing on Zola Budd Street. The Music Marathon is an official qualifier for the 2018 Two Oceans and Comrades Marathons.
