Toyota Cheetahs regroup over Christmas ahead of Ulster test─── ELSABÉ RICHARD 13:11 Thu, 25 Dec 2025
The Toyota Cheetahs will return to Amsterdam for Round 3 of the EPCR Challenge Cup, where they are set to take on Ulster on 11 January 2026.
The Bloemfontein outfit is back in South Africa following a 45–22 defeat to Stade Français on 13 December at the NRCA Stadium. This was the first-ever meeting between the two sides in any competition.
Coach Frans Steyn has stressed the team must improve how it handles pressure moments and learn from missed opportunities, with a strong emphasis on reducing unforced errors when they return to Europe.
Steyn also said the Cheetahs let a promising position slip after working their way back into the Stade Français match, underlining the fine margins exposed on their European tour.
The Free Staters, who also lost 42–12 to Exeter Chiefs in England on 7 December in an EPCR match, are now on their Christmas break and will be looking to redeem themselves when they return to Europe in the new year.
The Cheetahs will then travel to France to take on Racing 92 on 18 January at the La Défense Arena in Paris.
