Junior Springbok coach Kevin Foote has made four changes to his starting XV for Monday evening's World Rugby U20 Championship semi-final against England in Tbilisi, with South Africa looking to book a place in the title decider.

Foote has adjusted both his backline and forward pack following the convincing victory over Wales in their final Pool A match in the Georgian capital, making two changes in each unit.

The Junior Boks will also field a six-two split on the replacements bench, highlighting the physical contest they expect against an unbeaten England outfit.

Among the forwards, Kebotile Maake comes into the starting line-up at openside flank, while Luke Cannon shifts to blindside flank and Gert Kemp takes over at 8th-man. Risima Khosa drops to the bench, while Vujo Gwiji misses out on the matchday squad.

The backline changes see Markus Muller restored at outside centre in place of Samuel Badenhorst, while Luan Giliomee returns at fullback after being cleared to play following the completion of his head injury protocols. Alzeadon Felix, who started against Wales, provides backline cover among the replacements.

Foote said the additional recovery day between the pool phase and the semi-finals had allowed the coaching staff to freshen up the squad ahead of one of their biggest tests of the tournament.

"We've made some rotational changes to the squad, mindful that we had an extra day for recovery, which came at the right time after three pool matches in a relatively short period," Foote said.

"We have selected what we believe is an exciting team and a combination best suited to our game model against a very good England side."

England arrive in the last four with an unbeaten record after winning all three of their pool fixtures, matching South Africa's perfect run through the group stages.

Foote believes his side understands the size of the challenge but is ready to embrace the occasion.

"England have shown their quality by winning all three of their pool games," he said.

"They have a strong and successful history in this competition and will be highly motivated for this match. We have prepared well, and now it's about executing our plan.

"These young men love representing this team and playing for South Africa. We are grateful to represent our country and are excited about the challenge that awaits us on Monday."

Monday's semi-final in Tbilisi kicks off at 18:30.
