Vaal kidnapping accused's case postponed─── 11:25 Tue, 25 Feb 2020
The case against four accused who allegedly kidnapped a six-year-old girl at her school last year has been postponed to March 27, so that a trial date in the Johannesburg High Court can be set.
The matter is also postponed to allow for further investigations.
The accused Tharina Human (27), Laetitia Nel (40), Pieter van Zyl (50) and Molemohi Bafokeng (24) all made a brief appearance in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court today.
The four face charges of kidnapping and extortion after they allegedly snatched the victim from her mother outside her school in Vanderbijlpark in September 2019.
Laetitia Nel's bail of R25 000 was extended, while Van Zyl, Human and Bafokeng remain in custody.
The victim is not being named after a Constitutional Court ruling in December last year, determining that the media is not allowed to publish the identity of child victims, accused or witnesses in criminal proceedings, even after they reach the age of 18.
