The Bloemfontein-based Premier Soccer League side, Siwelele FC, will be looking to wrap up the first half of their season on a high tomorrow night.

Siwelele will welcome the eight-time, back-to-back defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, to Bloemfontein in what is arguably their biggest game of the campaign.

Siwelele are currently 12th on the log following a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Chippa United at home. Their 2–0 defeat to AmaZulu brought an end to their four-match unbeaten run - a streak that had pulled them out of the relegation zone.

Facing Sundowns is always a massive challenge, and tomorrow will be no different, but Siwelele will have to back themselves if they want to close out the first half of their season in style.

Coach Lehlohonolo Seema told OFM Sport that he wants to see grit and determination from his side.

“I don’t think it’s just about this one game,” said Seema.

“Every match is a test for us, and we approach all of them in the same way. Three points against Sundowns are the same as three points against any other team, so we always go out trying to get the maximum.

“But we’ve also told ourselves that if we can’t win, then we must at least be very hard to beat. The point we got against Pirates midway through the season was generous, and when we left the dressing room that day, the message was clear: if we can’t take all three, then make sure nobody rolls over us.

“Out of six games, we’ve kept four clean sheets, and credit must go to the goalkeeping department.

“The most clean sheets in the league is eight - I think that’s Ronwen Williams - others have seven or six, and once you mention six, our goalkeeper is right up there. So we’re making sure we don’t leak goals.

“We’re also aware that, aside from maybe the Chippa match, we’ve been shy in front of goal.

“We’re scoring the least, but it’s a work in progress. We trust the process, and we’ll get there - slowly, slowly.”

Wednesday night’s clash at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
