Weird Wide Web - Ai-Da the artistic poet robot─── 15:05 Mon, 13 Dec 2021

If you thought robots were emotionless machines, think again — because a man in England has invented a robot that can create art and write poems.
According to her website, Ai-Da is the world’s first ultra-realistic artist robot. She draws using cameras in her eyes, her AI algorithms, and her robotic arm. Created in February 2019, she had her first solo show at the University of Oxford, ‘Unsecured Futures’, where her art encouraged viewers to think about our rapidly changing world. She has since travelled and exhibited work internationally, and had her first show in a major museum, the Design Museum, in 2021. She continues to create art that challenges our notions of creativity in a post-humanist era.
Engoo.com reports that in an interview with CNN, her creator, Aidan Meller said that Ai-Da's poetry is "so great, if you read it you wouldn't know that it wasn't written by a human." For example, Ai-Da wrote poems based on the work of Italian poet Dante Alighieri. Ai-Da read Dante's The Divine Comedy, an over 14,000-line poem written in the early 14th century. She then used computer learning technology to copy Alighieri's style. Read more about Ai-Da here.
