We all know the myth: "You unknowingly swallow an average of four live spiders in your sleep each year". But did you know that according to Benjamin McGrew, M.D., an associate professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham department of otolaryngology, at least 5 times a year, people report to his clinic with cockroaches living in their ear?  This happened to Zane Wedding.  He was then informed by the doctor that the insect had been living in his ear for three days and needed to be surgically removed as the medic only pulled out half of the creature.  But how common is this ear dwelling cockroach incident? Wedding says he was left "deaf in the ear" for three days as he recalled part of the insect being removed using a suction device.  He told the New Zealand Herald newspaper: "I felt (my eardrum) pop as it came away.
