Eskom: Welkom voltage structures vandalised─── 09:36 Wed, 30 Dec 2020
The Eskom 132kV Everest-Welkom incomer 1 line outside Welkom, Free State has experienced extreme damage to 10 of its high voltage structures.
The structures have been vandalised and are currently lying on the ground, exposed and dangerous. One of the structures are hazardously leaning towards a live line. Eskom is undertaking some emergency work to protect and rescue its assets to ensure continued supply of electricity as well as the safety of the Welkom community.
Eskom will interrupt the electricity supply as follows: Date: Thursday, 31 December 2020 Time: 09h00 – 14h00
The areas that will be impacted by this emergency:
• Bronville
• Voorspoed
• Welkom CBD
• Doorn, and
• Welkom Industrial area.
Eskom apologises for any inconvenienced caused and assures customers that the emergency work will be attended to with the necessary urgency.
Electricity users are encouraged to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous at all times.
