Rabies vaccination campaigns to be held across the province─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 05:41 Wed, 04 Sep 2019
The MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Free State, William Bulwane, says it is important to raise awareness about rabies and the deadly consequences it holds for people and pets.
Bulwane told OFM News at the department’s vaccination campaign in Bloemfontein on Monday that it also forms part of the international rabies month celebrated in September. Bulwane says Rabies is a preventable disease and it is important for pet owners to take care of their animals and ensure they are vaccinated.
Bulwane said a similar vaccination campaign will follow in the Tempe area where a dog was reported to have rabies after the successful campaign in the Woodland Hills area in Bloemfontein where a yellow mongoose reportedly had rabies. Similar vaccination programmes will take place across the province with the department aiming to vaccinate 70% of dogs and cats in areas across the Free State.
