The Constitutional Review Committee has re-started the public hearings process on possibly changing the Constitution, to allow for land expropriation without compensation, in North West this week.
The committee is reviewing whether the amendment of Section 25 of the Constitution and other clauses is necessary to make it possible for the state to expropriate land without compensation. Communities can make submissions at the public hearings which form part of the review process.

This was the Co-Chairperson of theConstitutional Review Committee, Vincent Smith, who spoke about the publichearings process which is taking place in North West this week. The hearingstake place in the Mafikeng Civic Centre in Mahikeng today (Wednesday) at 11:00. The hearings will take place in the Rustenburg Civic Centre on Thursday.
