NW ANC conference to go ahead─── 10:40 Thu, 11 Aug 2022

The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West has finalised its preparation for the party's provincial conference, scheduled to take place from Friday to Sunday at the Rustenburg Civic Center in the Bojanala District.
The conference has been postponed twice before, citing issues of a dispute by branches in parts of the province.
The forerunners for the provincial chairperson are the current premier, Bushy Maape, and former MEC for Human Settlements, Nono Maloyi. Members of the organisation have been indicating the need for the provincial conference to go ahead in order to bring stability to the province.
The Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) coordinator, Hlomani Chauke, confirmed to OFM News that the conference is taking place this weekend.
Earlier in July, the ANC's National Executive Committee established a task team, led by Tate Makgoe, to deal with issues affecting the province. The acting secretary of the ANC Women's League (ANCWL), Bitsa Lenkopane, has also indicated that they want a woman to be in the top five.
The "One Supra one North West" campaign has been silent in the past two months, however, former premier Supra Mahumapelo is also said to be willing to stand for nomination.
OFM News previously reported that Thato Magogodi is contesting for the provincial secretary seat, and he is up against former ANCYL provincial secretary, Sipho Dial.
A member of the ANC, who supports Nono Maloyi, told OFM News that he hopes the conference will be peaceful and that they get better results.
Chauke said the Dispute Resolution Committee has dealt with the majority of disputes lodged by branches, citing that they wish to see a conference that is free for all.
