’We can’t be small-minded people forever’ – Dukwana─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:04 Wed, 08 Feb 2023
The newly-elected chairperson of the ANC PEC in the Free State, Mxolisi Dukwana, has challenged members of the organisation to do away with factional battles.
While delivering his closing remarks at the ANC Lekgotla held at Ilanga Estate in Bloemfontein, Dukwana said the province has been suffering under the watchful eye of ANC politicians who have been using their positions to empower themselves, rather than serving and empowering residents.
ANC national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, previously challenged Free State party members to choose leaders during the 9th Provincial Electoral Conference in Bloemfontein who will add value to the party. Whilst ANC Secretary-General (SG), Fikile Mbalula, previously said that the NEC will meet with the Free State ANC IPC in Mangaung to deal with what he described as "anarchy".
Dukwana called on members of the party to shift their energy towards job creation and service delivery, and do away with factional battles which leave communities stranded.

“Comrades, I don’t know what is going on, the Free State has to stop this circle of hatred. We’ve got to stop this thing, comrades. We have to use everything we have collectively to build this province, to serve our people. We can’t be small-minded people forever,” Dukwana said

Meanwhile, Premier Sisi Ntombela with her other seven MECs failed to make the list of the newly appointed PEC members. Calls have since grown for Ntombela to step down as the Premier of the Free State, with residents pleading for the ruling party to appoint a decisive premier who is going to fix the provincial government, as well as provide the necessary support to the local sphere of governance.

ActionSA provincial chairperson, Patricia Kopane, said the Free State – under the watchful eye of Ntombela – became the face of corruption with numerous incomplete projects that were only created to enrich the ANC cabal under her watch. Kopane further said that Ntombela has continued in Ace Magashule’s footsteps.
