Sudan 'truce' extended─── 07:18 Mon, 01 May 2023
As warplanes roared overhead and fighting continued in the capital of Sudan, rival Sudanese forces on Sunday announced the extension of a truce they have largely violated.
It is the third week of deadly clashes between the army and well-armed paramilitaries in Khartoum and other regions of the nation.
The most recent truce, which had been repeatedly broken, was set to officially end at midnight (2200 GMT) when the opposing sides announced a 72-hour extension.

The Sudanese army attributed this to "US and Saudi mediation".
Since fighting started on April 15, more than 500 people have died and tens of others have been compelled to flee their homes for safer areas at home or abroad.
