All-human circus spectacular is coming to Bloem this June | News Article

AUSSIE will now be touching down in Bloemfontein at the Windmill Casino, setting up their iconic white, yellow and purple circus Big Top and tent village to show from Friday 10 - Sunday 19 June 2016.

AUSSIE: The Australian Circus Spectacular has been making waves around South Africa for all of the right reasons. Offering a night of escapism and positivity, the show has gained a devoted following across the country, with one family even travelling 400 kilometers in one evening from the Karoo to Port Elizabeth just to see the spectacle. Another family travelled 500km to see the show in Durban where its season was extended to five weeks to meet demand.

AUSSIE will now be touching down in Bloemfontein at the Windmill Casino, setting up their iconic white, yellow and purple circus Big Top and tent village to show from Friday 10 - Sunday 19 June 2016.

The show blends stunning cirque artistry and acrobatics on the ground and in the air with hilarious slapstick comedy, mysterious illusion and extreme stunts including FMX jumps beneath the Big Top circus tent, the splitting Globe of Death (a spherical cage in which four riders encircle each other and perform precarious tricks) and one of the world’s only surviving Human Cannonball acts, fired right over the heads of the audience.

AUSSIE marked its international debut at the GrandWest Grand Arena in Cape Town, performing to thousands over a limited weekend run of shows. The production then moved to George, the hometown for returning Executive Producer, Sebastian Cassie and Ringmistress, Meryl Cassie. The show has since touched down all over the country, stopping at Port Elizabeth, Durban, Pretoria, Sandton, and at Carnival City.

By the look of a few of the 5 star Facebook reviews, our fellow South Africans have experienced a lekker show that is worth the hype;

“I watched the show in Durban today & I am still bubbling with excitement! Spectacular doesn't come close to describing the perfection & energy I got to see & experience. Beautiful, talented, fearless, strong, daring performers, showing us what a magnificent piece of art the body truly is…”

  • Robyn, Durban.

“My brother and I saw the 14:00 show at Sandown. We both loved it. I think I wore out my fair share of the words 'Wow' and 'Did you see that?!'

Watching multitalented artists performing feats of strength and skill was a wonderful treat. Of course, some of them are clearly a bit nuts (I say that with admiration). Specifically the human cannonball and the bike riders. While they were riding the Globe of Death I forgot to breathe, but when they jumped over the Globe of Death I shouted out loud, 'Holy cow, are they mad!' But truly I loved every moment of it…”

  • Sandra, Sandton.

Also paid a lot for the ringside seats... Was absolutely worth it! We enjoyed every minute. My 8-year-old could not stop laughing at the clowns, the motorcycle tricks were amazing and the acrobats made our local circus look pale in comparison! Well done Aussies!

  • Cathy, Pretoria.

Now it’s time for Bloem to come and say G’day to the AUSSIES. It is not often the Free State plays host to a big international production like this, but Executive Producer, Sebastian Cassie, believes that regional towns are a circus’ ‘bread and butter’:

“It is the regional and coastal cities who are hungry for spectacle, and they sadly often miss out. Bloem and George are two examples that were included on our tour because we knew there would be a hunger for our kind of show in each place. It is also regional towns who are most enthusiastic about the high-octane parts of the show – in particular the freestyle motocross stunts that are our speciality”.

AUSSIE will be in Bloemfontein for a limited time only with options for morning, afternoon, and evening shows from 10-19 June. The tent will be heated to protect you and your loved ones from the bite of the Free State winter.

Tickets are R200-R400 for adults and R150-R350 for children under 14 years old and groups of 10 or more booking together. Infants seated on a parent’s lap do not require a ticket.

Tickets can be purchased online at Computicket, or in-store at Computicket outlets, Shoprite, Checkers, Checkers Hyper and House & Home stores.
