Another eight tons of fireworks confiscated─── 08:41 Tue, 29 Dec 2009
Tshwane metro police confiscated another eight tons of fireworks from a supermarket in Marabastad yesterday. The fireworks, which filled two trucks and a bakkie, were taken from the Frontline supermarket on the corner of Paul Kruger and Bloed streets. Spokesman for community safety, Console Tleane, says the owner received a R5000 spot fine and had his licences and permits to deal in fireworks revoked. This brings to 18 tons the amount of fireworks confiscated from dealers since last Wednesday. Five tons were seized in Atteridgeville on Wednesday, followed by three tons in Marabastad on the same day, and two tons on Christmas Day.
