Roff Industries said in a statement its R70 maize mill ensures an extraction rate of between 73% and 75%. The industry norm is reportedly between 68% and 70% and Roff claims the enhanced extraction rate can help millers to raise profits by 3% - 4%.

The announcement comes as South Africa grapples with the impact of the drought on maize production and the looming threat of needing to import as much as six million tons of maize in the new season.
