Young farmer urges her fellow farmers to get involved─── SABRINA DEAN 14:17 Tue, 15 Mar 2016

Midrand - A young female farmer from the Eastern Free State is urging her fellow young farmers to participate in organised agriculture platforms, as well as things like young farmer conferences and competitions.
This is the view of Elzette Rautenbach, secretary of the Transvaal Agricultural Union of SA’s Young Farmer Committee.
The organisation this week hosts its Young Farmer’s Conference in Gauteng, where it will also officially launch its annual competition. Rautenbach says young farmers are the future and need to focus on how to go about improving the country we live in.
“We really want to give our young farmers the power and the knowledge to make their farming enterprises more profitable and to better the agricultural economy. We want to stay here and improve our country – that is our main goal.
“I really wish our young farmers would get more involved - not just with TAU SA but with any agricultural organisation.”
This year’s conference is being presented under the theme “With Technology, we are here to stay”.
