The Joyride Goes Island | News Article
Nico on vacation in Mauritius, but still working

This whole week, Nico is broadcasting live from his hotel room in Mauritius. So we decided it would be cool to chat to a couple of South Africans who just so happen to be on the island the same time Nico is.

We chat to Beukes van Zyl who tells us a bit more about his work and teaches Nico the local language. Beukes is a South African who moved his business to Mauritius, expanding it on the island.  His work is focused on making sure your team works at its best, yep you guessed it, he works in the team building business and Teambo is where you will find him. He also gives some tips on how one can also move to the island as well as maybe buy property there too.

Marcelle Meiring

Marcelle Meiring was born on the island and has also lived in South Africa for a while, studying in the Cape. After finishing his studies, Marcelle moved back to the island and jumped into the business world, opening an events company called Excel Events.

One of their key focuses is the promotion of the "not so popular" sports on the island, getting more people interested in playing and being a part of the various sports disciplines. One such event is taking place this coming November. From 22nd - the 28th of November, Excel Events will be hosting an inter-island 7's Rugby tournament, inviting teams from Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar & some invitational teams from South Africa. The aim of the tournament is to promote 7's Rugby on the island.  For more information on this tournament, just incase you too want to be part of it, and to see what other activities Excel Events gets up to, click here.
