#NatashaMans: Unknown phone number raises questions | News Article

A phone number of someone who communicated with the murdered Bloemfontein woman, Natasha Mans, is the latest clue in the murder investigation.

This is according to the private detective, Leon Rossouw, who was hired by Mans’ family. He said in an interview with OFM News he has gone through Mans’ cellphone records and found that she was in daily contact with the person using this cell phone number.

Rossouw says the investigation so far revealed that the number was used by Ronnie Levine. He said although the records prove that Levine was in daily contact with Mans, his contact details were never stored on her phone and most communication – except for one message - was deleted. Rossouw indicated that Levine’s last residence was in Bloemfontein – approximately 10 minutes’ walk from where Mans and Casten stayed. He said Levine stayed with people who took him in after newspaper reports in 2016 that he was staying in a tent with his two dogs.

The only message found on Mans’ phone to Levine – dated 29 May 2018 – reads as follow:

“My dearest new God friend Ronnie. I appreciate all you are doing for me. Really I am! But I am not going to see you, give out any more money on me or comfy coats. And I feel extremely strong about this. The only way I will come around there by you is if you will promise not to shower me with any more gifts or will put in money in comfy coats. You must promise me, please. I love you for the beautiful God serving man you are. But please no more money must be spend (sic). Ok?? You must promise!!!!!!! Lots of blessings and goodwill to you. Your sweetheart……hehe.”

Rossouw said – according to cellphone records – Levine last communicated with Mans on 30 May 2018 – just a day before Mans went missing. Her stay-in boyfriend, Dennis Casten, reported her missing. Weeks later her body was discovered by Casten in his backyard. She had a bullet wound to the chest and the police’s initial impressions were that her body was stored in a fridge.

Rossouw says Levine has left the city in the meantime and he is possibly staying somewhere in Mpumalanga. They are, however, trying to track him down since he no longer uses the number contained in Mans’ cellphone records.

So far no one has been arrested in connection with the case. The case has been transferred to the police’s special unit – the Hawks. A reward of R20 000 that was offered for information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case was never claimed. Rossouw says anyone with information can contact him at 079 240 3491.
