This comes after the 20-year-old suspect allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl at Ramosadi village on Friday. It is alleged that the suspect pointed a firearm at the girl before raping her multiple times. The victim escaped and alerted neighbours, before they allegedly caught and assaulted him. He is currently in hospital, under police guard. It was later discovered that the firearm was a toy gun. According to police’s Amanda Funani, the suspect will appear before Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

“The North West Provincial Commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, welcomed the arrest and urged members of the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands as that is unlawful and cannot be tolerated,” said Funani.
