Operations at Bram Fischer International Airport back to normal─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 15:42 Fri, 25 May 2018
Operations at the Bram Fischer International Airport are back to normal after airline, SA Express was grounded by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) yesterday, causing alarm.
This as South African Airways has released a relief schedule today to assist SA Express passengers to get to their destinations.
Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs at Airports South Africa (ACSA), Senzeni Ndebele told OFM News, prior to the grounding SA Express operated 8 flights between OR Tambo and Bram Fischer daily, while 1 flight operated between Cape Town and Bram Fischer daily.
She says the grounding impacts flight frequency, but would not affect passenger numbers, because Cemair and Airlink would still be flying the route to Johannesburg.
Ndebele added that some of the SA Express passengers that were set to fly these routes have been absorbed by other flights, as outlined by South African Airways spokesperson, Tlali Tlali.
Tlali says the three partner airlines being SAA, Mango Airlines and SA Airlink have put a plan together to assist SA Express passengers to get to their destinations
Flights headed to Sun City and Mahikeng however have been cancelled for the weekend. Despite these efforts some, remain cautiously optimistic things will normalise, including business man and frequent flyer Jacque Van Wyk, who witnessed the chaos that ensued following SA Express’ grounding yesterday.
He says he hopes the matter gets resolved quickly, despite CemAir have had taken weeks in order to operate flights again after they were grounded by the SACAA earlier this year.
