Bloemfontein - A fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Free State farmer, Thomas Ferreira. The 38-year old suspect was arrested at his home in Batho this morning and will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court tomorrow. Free State police spokesperson Annelie Wrensch says the suspected murder weapon, a 9mm pistol, was found in the man's possession. Ferreira, who was the owner of the Shell garage at Tom's Place near Bloemfontein, was shot and killed at his farm, Riversford, in November last year. His cellphone and house keys were stolen. The latest development this morning comes after the arrest of four suspects at their homes in Batho and Bloemspruit last week. The four appeared in court yesterday, and were denied bail. Patrick Mabule, Hendrik van Schalkwyk, Johannes Mfeku and Rodger Siyale will re-appear again on January 12.
